The IUEC took part in the 61-st IAEA General Conference

The IUEC took part in the 61-st General Conference of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the framework of the united exhibition of the companies incorporated within State Corporation Rosatom held in Vienna, Austria on September 18-22, 2017.

The Russian exposition arouse significant interest of the delegates of the Conference, which was attended by representatives from 168 countries, who discussed throughout the business week of the prospects for development of atomic energy, issues of nuclear security, the Agency safeguards in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). IUEC representatives told the exhibition visitors of one of the key objectives of the company establishment, i.e. strengthening the role of the IAEA in the global promotion of atomic energy, in these purposes the Government of the Russian Federation appointed the Center to be the operator of the guaranteed physical stock of low-enriched uranium (LEU) on the territory of the Angarsk Electrochemical Combine. The Center performs continuous activities on ensuring the proper and safe management of nuclear materials (NM) in the Fuel Bank. The Center employees carry out annual physical inventory of nuclear materials and the IAEA, in its turn, independently verifies the results of this inventory, accounting of the Center nuclear materials and its storage conditions.

In the framework of the 61-st General Conference, the candidacy of Dr. Yukiya Amano was approved for a new four-years period as the Agency Director General. The IAEA is the world leading forum of scientific and technical cooperation in the area of use of nuclear technologies in the peaceful purposes.
